Coffee on Corso – Charity Day 2011
Coffee on Corso is new to the coffee scene. Wes Kemp, the owner is something of an entrepreneur and saw a niche in the market. Wes’s partner owns and
runs the local hair salon, Ahead of Design, and with their clientele wishing to have a coffee while having their hair done, Wes thought it would make good business sense to run a small espresso bar out of the corner of the salon to not only service their own clientele but passing trade as well. As it turns out, Wes was right on the money and since opening has gone from strength to strength. Wes is very passionate about what he does and produces a great brew from his little ‘hole in the wall’ espresso bar. Coffee on Corso runs 2 grinders serving two very different blends to satisfy all comers. Coffee on Corso also makes available to its customers resale coffee beans to take home.
When Wes came to us with an idea to raise money for charity, and the profile of the area we were more than happy to jump on board. Coffee on Corso along with other local retailers had an idea to promote their businesses collectively and decided that a local charity could also benefit. The purpose was to raise money for City Care’s Youth Intervention Project, a 
program they are trying to add to their multipurpose facilities supporting troubled youth before it’s too late. All proceeds raised on the day went to getting this program started.
The whole day was about families, with retailers supplying activities aimed at providing fun. There were jumping castles, Mr Happy the Clown, face painting, live music, just to name a few. The day was very well supported by the local residents and by all reports was a great success. So much so that the retailers have decided to make it an annual event. And it seems they weren’t alone in their thinking as the group has been approached by a local law firm interested in sponsoring the event next year.
Cre8ive Coffee took much pleasure in being involved in such a worthwhile cause and look forward to being part of it all again next year.
